Join Prayers at the Airport before Departing

Question: 

Is it permissible to join prayers when we are at the airport before departing? 

Answer:

In the name of Allah, we praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.

This is a debated issues amongst the scholars of the past and between the modern day scholars as well. The question often asked is, does the travel begin with intention or when you leave the house?

Airports take the rule of being outside the city, regardless of it’s location. At the airport, everyone knows you are a traveler. If you are at the airport you take the rules of a traveler and it is allowed for you to combine prayers.
