Correct Your Recitation (89)

Recitation of the Qur’an
Almighty Allah says:

…and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. (Al-Muzzammil 73:4)

In another verse:

Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. (Al-Baqarah 2:121)

Welcome to a new interesting episode of “Correct Your Recitation” series with Sheikh Muhammad Salah and his guests. First Sheikh Isma`il recites from verse 15 of surat Al-Mulk (the Sovereignty) to verse 26. Surat Al-Mulk is a great surah that has many virtues. For example, Narrated Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “A surah of the Qur’an containing thirty verses will intercede its reader till he will be forgiven. That is: “Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the sovereignty”. (Classified as Hassan by Al-Albani)

As usual, Dr. Muhammad reflects on the spiritual explanation of verses from the beginning of the Surah. He talks about the purpose of life in detail and how to prepare for the hereafter. Then, he talks about the Names and Attributes of Almighty Allah calcifying how to worship Allah by His Names.

At the second part of the episode, Dr. Muhammad explains a new rule of tajweed and the mistakes made by the viewers during recitation. The letter (lam) is always pronounced with tarqeeq (thinness) except in the Glorious Name “Allah”. The “lam” of the Glorious Name of Allah sometimes has tafkheem (fattening) and sometimes tarqeeq, depending on the pronounced vowel on the letter preceding the “lam”.
