Offering Prayer Shortly before It’s Time Is Gone: Permissible?

Offering Prayer Shortly before It’s Time Is Gone

Question:

If some body came from work and he was asleep and exhausted, so he could not wake up to pray Zhuhr Prayer on time. However, he or she offered the Zhuhr Prayer before `Asr at the end of the time, is it permissible?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, we praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.

The scholars say that the best time for any Prayer is the beginning of its time due to the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him) “The best of deeds in the sight of Allah is Prayer at the beginning of its time”. (Al-Bukhari)

Hence, it is recommended that one should hasten to pray after the entrance of its time always, whether it is winter or summer, whether it is for Zhuhr Prayer or any other prayer, and whether one is making prayer alone or in congregation.

There is a time of permissibility; this is the time where delaying of prayer has not yet reached the level of hatefulness, but to delay it beyond this time is either disliked or forbidden, although the prayer is still valid as long as it is completed within its time.
