Using Alcohol Sanitizer to Clean Hands

Question: 

Is it permissible to use alcohol sanitizer to clean hands? 

Answer:

In the name of Allah, we praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.

Majority of the scholars believe that alcohol is prohibited and they say it is impure (najis). Drinking it in small or large quantity is absolutely prohibited. But can we use ethanol i.e., pure alcohol to clean our hands in the form of gels, wipes and sanitizers?

Every Najis is prohibited but not every haram is najis. For example, poison is prohibited to ingest but it is not physically impure.
